The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company has officially launched the RTL ferry service in Faafu and Dhaalu atolls, expanding the national sea transport network.
Special ceremonies were held in both atolls to mark the launch. Faafu’s service was inaugurated by Nilandhoo MP Fathimath Sauda, while Transport Minister Mohamed Ameen officially launched operations in Dhaalu at a ceremony in Meedhoo.
Six routes will serve the two atolls, including inter-atoll connections between Faafu and Dhaalu. Each ferry has a capacity of 48 passengers.
Free travel will be available from the 19th to the 24th of this month. Tickets will go on sale from the 25th via the RTL website and mobile application.
