Domestic flight operations at Velana International Airport have been moved to the airport’s former international terminal following a series of upgrades.
The relocation was marked with a ceremony attended by Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef, cabinet ministers, and officials from Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL).
Check-in counters have increased from eight to 27, with additional security screening machines and six departure gates added. The terminal now also includes prayer rooms and food outlets.
Two new, larger baggage belts have been installed to ease congestion for arriving passengers.
The changes aim to improve passenger flow and make domestic travel more efficient.
