The Adventure begins
It was one of those sunny Hulhumalé mornings when brunch just feels right. The group chat was blowing up with:
“Let’s try that bagel place near the beach!”
So off we went to Coffee & Bagels, tucked right in Hulhumalé Phase I with the waves practically as your background music. From the outside, it already looked like the perfect lazy-day spot. Step inside, and you’ve got this warm, cosy energy, plus a mix of indoor and outdoor seating so you can choose between air-con comfort or salty sea breeze.
The Menu Temptation
As soon as we sat down, the menus landed in our hands — no waiting forever here. Bagels, sandwiches, breakfast plates, and a bunch of drinks stared back at us. Warning: some bagels vanish from the menu after 11:30AM, but there’s plenty of all-day picks too.
We decided to go big or go home. On our table:
- Sophisticated Eggs Benedict
- Delta Prawn Sandwich
- Iced Latte
- Mango Passionfruit Refresher (because tropical vibes)
- Pain Perdu (aka fancy French toast)
- Chocolate Chip Bagel with Cream Cheese (because who says no to that?)

The Drinks Kick-Off
The Iced Latte hit the spot — smooth, balanced, not too bitter, not too sweet. The Mango Passionfruit Refresher tasted like drinking sunshine with just the right amount of tang. Both were exactly what you want when you’re sitting by the beach and trying to wake up at the same time.
Main Event: The Food
The Sophisticated Eggs Benedict lived up to its name — half a bagel stacked with sautéed spinach, smoked salmon, perfectly poached eggs, and silky hollandaise sauce. The yolks? Absolute gold, spilling over the salmon in slow-motion perfection.
Then came the Delta Prawn Sandwich — a glorious mess of breaded prawns tossed in cheesy mayo, packed into soft Italian bread with fresh lettuce and a side of crispy fries. The kind of sandwich you can’t eat without leaning over your plate and praying nothing falls out (spoiler: it will, but it’s worth it).
The Chocolate Chip Bagel with cream cheese was the sweet-salty sidekick we didn’t know we needed — chewy, chocolatey, and slightly indulgent.

Sweet Ending
We were full but there was no way we were leaving without dessert. Enter the Pain Perdu — hot from the griddle, stuffed with creamy vanilla custard, topped with poached pears, and drizzled with tart berry sauce. It was soft, sweet, a little tangy, and basically the hug you didn’t know you needed.

Final Thoughts
Coffee & Bagels isn’t just a place to grab a bite — it’s a brunch vibe, a hangout spot, and a little slice of beachside comfort. The food delivers, the drinks refresh, and the service keeps things moving.
Next time? I’m aiming for their Blueberry Bagel with Whipped Butter before 11:30AM — because now I know the rules.
