India Introduces Self-Declaration Form for Travellers

India has introduced a new requirement for incoming passengers to submit a self-declaration form as part of precautionary measures amid global concerns over Ebola.

The directive, issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in coordination with the World Health Organization, applies to all travellers entering the country and requires them to declare their health status before arrival.

Airlines have also been instructed to provide in-flight health advisories, while passengers must submit the completed form at health and immigration counters upon landing.

The national carrier Maldivian has informed passengers travelling to India that the form is available on its official website.

Indian authorities have recently screened individuals showing symptoms linked to Ebola, though all tests have so far returned negative. Those individuals remain under precautionary quarantine.

Meanwhile, the Health Protection Agency in the Maldives has assessed the risk of Ebola entering the country as low, but continues to advise caution and adherence to international health guidelines.
