Dr. Mohamed Zahir Hussain has resigned as Chancellor of the Islamic University of Maldives.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu met him today to thank him for his decades of service to Maldivian education.
The President praised Dr. Zahir’s leadership in the Basic Education Programme, the establishment of community schools, and his work expanding higher education. Dr. Zahir served nearly 50 years, including over 33 years in education, and received awards such as the ODRI and the Highest Honour for Service to Maldivian Education.
