A Sri Lankan national has been taken into custody following the death of a Bangladeshi man found in a garbage dump on K. Thilafushi.
The deceased has been identified as 24-year-old Ameen Mia, who went missing on April 26. His body was recovered on August 28.
Police said CCTV footage showed Ameen was struck by an excavator, while work continued around him. A 32-year-old Sri Lankan man was arrested under a court order in connection with the case.
Authorities said they will continue updating the public as the investigation progresses.
