Government awards Naifaru land reclamation project to MTCC

MTCC Managing Director Ahmed Saudhee signed the agreement today with Housing Minister Dr. Abdullah Muttalib. Naifaru, home to 5,787 people, faces major harbor congestion. Residents struggle with cargo handling and passenger movement. MTCC said the new harbor will ease these challenges and boost fishing and trade. The project includes dredging 26,960 cubic meters, building a 340-meter quay wall, a 182-meter breakwater, a 1,390 square meter pavement, and installing harbor lights. The work will take 360 days and cost MVR 47.5 million. MTCC, established in 1980, continues to lead infrastructure and urban development across the Maldives.

The government has contracted the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) to carry out land reclamation in Lh. Naifaru.

MTCC Managing Director Ahmed Saudhee signed the agreement with Housing Minister Dr. Abdullah Muthalib.

Naifaru, home to 5,787 people, faces land shortages that hinder development. MTCC said the project will create new space for housing and economic opportunities.

The scope of work includes dredging 26,960 cubic meters, reclaiming land, and developing supporting infrastructure such as pavements and public lighting.

The MVR 47.5 million project is expected to be completed within 360 days.

Established in 1980, MTCC remains a key player in land reclamation and infrastructure development across the Maldives.
