President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the Bank of Maldives (BML) will raise U.S. dollar transaction limits on its credit cards starting February 1, 2026.
According to the president:
- Classic card limit will increase from USD 750 to USD 1,400
- Gold card limit will increase from USD 750 toUSD 1,500
- Platinum card limit will increase from USD 1,500 to USD 2,000
The President also announced last week that, starting November 11 this year, BML will raise the overseas POS payment limit on debit cards to USD 1,000.
In addition, the limit for purchasing airline tickets and making hotel payments abroad will also be raised to USD 3,000, and travelers seeking medical treatment overseas will be able to pay hospitals directly through debit cards upon request.
