The Cabinet has approved a series of measures aimed at improving public services, strengthening project monitoring and ensuring government projects are completed on schedule.
As part of the decision, the government will launch the Public Investment Management System (PIMS) portal to improve the management and monitoring of public projects.
The Cabinet also decided to establish a dedicated team at the Ministry of Finance and Public Enterprises to assist ministries and state-owned companies in implementing ongoing projects, while each ministry will form a special unit to oversee day-to-day project progress.
In addition, the government will work with the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development and project contractors to finalise implementation timelines for infrastructure projects.
The Cabinet also resolved to expand the RTL network nationwide and approved measures to allow development permits in designated safe areas in the atolls, similar to the system in Malé.
