Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has assured that services at Velana International Airport (VIA) will continue without interruption under any circumstances due to strengthened coordination between key authorities.
MACL has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Maldives Meteorological Service (MMS), and Maldives Red Crescent (MRC) to enhance airport safety, security and emergency preparedness.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, MACL Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed said the agreement marks an important step towards improving readiness for emergencies at the airport.
He highlighted that effective airport operations depend on cooperation, trust and transparency among all stakeholders, noting that emergency preparedness cannot be handled by one institution alone.
Shareef thanked NDMA, MMS and MRC for their continued support and said the collaboration will help protect passengers, employees and the wider aviation sector.
MACL reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with all relevant authorities to maintain safe and uninterrupted services at VIA.
