President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the government will provide the necessary facilities to establish a new modern Police Headquarters to address the space limitations currently faced by the Maldives Police Service.
Speaking at the ceremony held at the Social Centre to mark the 93rd Anniversary of the Maldives Police Service, the President said that while the main Police Headquarters is currently located in the Malé region, limited space remains a challenge for the institution.
The President said the government will prioritise the development of the Shaheed Hussain Adam Building in Malé City, which is currently being used as the Police Headquarters.
He also highlighted several planned projects to expand police services in the Greater Malé Region, including facilitating the construction of a second building at Iskandhar Koshi and including a spacious police facility in Hulhumalé Phase II in next year’s budget.
Speaking about police development across the atolls, President Muizzu said the goal is to establish police stations throughout the country by the end of next year. He also announced plans to permanently develop the police training centre in Vaani and maintain the Police Station in Addu City.
The President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening the Maldives Police Service and supporting its continued development.
The anniversary ceremony also featured the presentation of awards and plaques to police officers and members of the public who contributed to the work of the institution, including special recognition for officers who served the nation for more than 40 years.
