Maldives Ports Limited has reported clearing 75,847 packages of perishable cargo during the week of June 14 to 20.
According to MPL’s weekly statistics, eggs were the most cleared item with 21,722 packages, followed by onions with 16,733 packages and watermelons with 8,005 packages.
The company also cleared 6,517 packages of potatoes, 5,022 packages of tomatoes and 3,713 packages of cabbage, along with a wide range of other fruits and vegetables.
During the same period, MPL recorded a container throughput of 3,243 TEUs, with 1,556 TEUs unloaded and 1,687 TEUs loaded.
The port also received three container vessels and seven general cargo vessels during the week, while one container vessel and five general cargo vessels departed.
In total, MPL cleared 34,310.40 freight tonnes from container vessels and 2,632.91 freight tonnes from general cargo vessels.
