MTCC has set July 26 as the target date to complete the ongoing development of Boduthakurufaanu Magu in Male’ City.
Work is currently underway on the first phase of the project, covering a 700-metre stretch from Segments 2 to 5. According to MTCC, road levelling and sub-grading are progressing rapidly as the project moves towards the asphalt paving stage.
The project has already seen the reconstruction of a 610-metre seawall, lowered by six metres to allow for road widening, while major upgrades to the water and sewerage networks have also been completed.
MTCC is also developing a new parking area in front of the Bank of Ceylon with space for 580 motorcycles. The project will also include a drainage system, pavements and street lighting.
The government aims to complete the project in time for Independence Day on July 26 and open the upgraded road to the public.
