President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has declared May 24 and 25 as public holidays ahead of Eid al-Adha.
In a statement, the President’s Office said the decision was made to allow government employees more time to spend with their families and take part in Eid-related activities.
This year’s Hajj Day falls on May 26, while Eid al-Adha will be celebrated on May 27. With the additional holidays, the Eid break has been extended for a longer continuous period.
According to the President’s Office, government offices will reopen on Sunday, May 31, following the holidays.
