Foreign Minister Dr Abdulla Khaleel has praised Bangladeshi workers as vital to the Maldives’ development.
Speaking at Bangladesh’s Independence Day celebrations, the minister said their contribution remains essential to the country’s economic growth and stability. He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting their rights.
The remarks come as the Maldives and Bangladesh mark 48 years of diplomatic relations. Khaleel highlighted strong ties between the two countries, including cooperation in education, health and trade.
He has said the partnership will continue to grow, with both countries expected to deepen cooperation in the years ahead.
