The government has earned over MVR 700 million from bunkering services, authorities have said.
Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed has said the service has generated MVR 730 million since its launch. He noted that bunkering plays a key role in supporting the national economy despite public criticism.
The service, introduced to boost state revenue, began operations in 2024.
The minister has also said the Attorney General’s Office is working on legislation to introduce a Pearl Residency Visa.
