HDC has waived rent for Hiyaa flats for two years under a scheme introduced by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
The corporation has said unpaid rent will be deducted from the MVR 200,000 allocated to each flat for finishing works.Residents will not have to pay monthly rent until the amount is fully used. Rent payments are set to resume from May 1, 2028.
However, residents must continue to pay the monthly management fee.HDC has said system updates are underway and revised balances will be shared through its portal.
The government has also waived fines for unpaid rent accumulated until last December.
