Simpler Tourist Visa Extensions From April 1

The Tourism Ministry has announced that tourists will be able to extend their stay through a simplified online process from April 1.

Tourism Minister Thoriq Ibrahim said the move is aimed at improving visitor convenience and supporting the tourism sector amid regional disruptions.

Currently, tourist visas are issued for 30 days. Under the new system, extensions can be applied for online with minimal documentation.

Applicants will only need a photo of their visa, submit it through an online platform, pay the fee, and receive approval within 48 hours, the minister said.

Thoriq noted that around 30 percent of tourists arrive via Middle Eastern airlines, routes affected by the ongoing conflict.

He added that the government is also working on new visa categories for digital nomads and content creators to support guesthouses and diversify tourism offerings.
