President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that he believes the benefits and allowances provided by the state to former presidents and members of the People’s Majlis should be reduced.
The President made this statement in a message sent to a WhatsApp group that includes PNC members of the People’s Majlis. In that message, he expressed his view that the benefits given to former parliament members and former presidents should be reduced. He stated that this is what the public desires.
Many members in the group supported the President’s opinion.
The public has been expressing concern over the high level of benefits provided by the state to those who have served as presidents and members of the People’s Majlis. Given the current economic situation of the country, they believe providing large amounts of benefits, especially to MP’S is not the most appropriate approach at this time.
