Shaheem Urges Pilgrims to Follow Official Guidance Amid Middle East Tensions

Islamic Affairs Minister Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has urged Maldivians to follow instructions issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Saudi government amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

In a post on X, Shaheem said authorities are closely monitoring the situation of Maldivian Umrah pilgrims. He noted that more than 2,000 pilgrims from 20 companies are performing Umrah during Ramadan this year. Some are currently in Mecca, while others are scheduled to depart on the 15th of Ramadan.

President Mohamed Muizzu has formed a special committee, comprising Shaheem and eight cabinet ministers, to monitor challenges faced by the Maldives due to the conflict.
