12 Charged Over Alleged False Land Documents Scheme

The Prosecutor General’s Office has forwarded a case to the Criminal Court over allegations of filing false documents claiming land under a government scheme.

The charges include creating a false document, participating in the creation of a false document, and knowingly distributing false documents.

Among those charged is MWSC Deputy Managing Director Ibrahim Fazeel, who was previously dismissed after being accused of leasing land outside the scheme under the Landlord Scheme. In total, 12 people, including Fazeel, have been charged in connection with the case.

The Prosecutor General’s Office said the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is separately investigating the land ownership scheme. A decision on further charges will be made once that investigation is complete.
