The new academic year has begun in all schools across the Maldives, with 219 schools welcoming over 77,000 students and more than 9,000 teachers.
Over 4,000 students have joined Grade 1 in government schools this year, including 1,700 from Malé.
As per the academic calendar, the first term mid break will run from May 24 to May 30, with a term holiday from July 17 to August 1. The second term will begin on August 2, and students will be on holiday from December 18 to January 12, 2027.
