Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Mohamed Ameen has announced that vessels arriving in the Maldives will be able to enter Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) port 24 hours a day.
The announcement was made in a social media post, with Minister Ameen describing the move as a major step towards economic development, ending a policy that had been in place since 1988.
He said that, alongside round-the-clock port access, clearance and pilotage services will also be available 24 hours a day. The new arrangement will take effect from tomorrow.
Minister Ameen added that the decision was taken in line with the positive policies of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, aimed at improving efficiency and supporting economic growth.
