Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has said that 36.61 percent of the land reclamation for the HA.Dhidhdhoo Airport and housing project has been completed.
MACL said 41 hectares have been reclaimed so far out of the 111 hectares planned under the project. The work is being carried out using one of the world’s largest trailing suction hopper dredgers, the Liv Erickson.
The company said the dredger, with a capacity to extract 46,000 cubic meters of sand at a time, is expected to significantly speed up the reclamation process.
