Senegal has beaten hosts Morocco to claim their second Africa Cup of Nations title after a dramatic and controversial final.
The match descended into chaos in stoppage time when Morocco were awarded a penalty following a VAR review. Angered by the decision, Senegal coach Pape Thiaw briefly ordered his players off the pitch.
After a long delay, play resumed and Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy saved Brahim Diaz’s penalty. In extra time, Pape Gueye scored the winner to seal the title.
Thiaw later apologised for the walk-off, while captain Sadio Mane praised his team for returning to finish the match.
