Sixty-six youths has departed for Baa Atoll to begin basic training under the government’s Wathani Seva programme.

The group left for the MNDF training centre in Kihaadhoo to start their training. It includes 50 boys and 16 girls between the ages of 16 and 19. All participants are graduates of the first batch of National Service Initial Training (NSSC), which concluded on March 28.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said the programme aims to shape confident, disciplined, and responsible citizens. In a post on X, he said the training focuses on building moral strength, patriotism, and physical and spiritual well-being.

The Wathani Seva programme targets youth who do not have access to higher education after school. It seeks to equip them with discipline, skills, and strong values to help them integrate positively into society.
