Police have launched Operation Alimagu in Gaafu Alifu Atoll to target drug trafficking networks operating in the area.
Police said the operation aims to dismantle groups involved in smuggling drugs into the Maldives. Officers will search premises linked to suspected traffickers and take legal action where necessary.
Special teams from the South Police, Police Intelligence, and the Drug Enforcement Department are conducting the operation. Police said the joint effort strengthens enforcement and disrupts drug supply chains.
Operation Alimagu was first introduced in November 2019 as part of ongoing anti-drug operations.
