Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has halted Visual Flight Rules (VFR) operations during periods of low visibility caused by poor air quality.
MACL said it switches to Special Visual Flight Rules (SVFR) when visibility drops below five kilometres, in line with aviation regulations.
The measure follows guidelines set by the Maldives Civil Aviation Authority and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). MACL said the move ensures safer operations during reduced visibility.
The company added that it continues to prioritise the safety of all domestic and international flights and passengers.
