The Maldives has welcomed its first tourist of 2026, German national Thomas Andrew Helvega, arriving with his wife.
Thomas and his wife arrived on an Etihad Airways flight, marking their first visit to the Maldives.
A special ceremony was held at the arrival hall of Velana International Airport, where Deputy Chief Officer of Passenger Services Ali Mustaq greeted the couple.
Maldives Airports Limited (MACL) presented Thomas with a commemorative gift to mark the occasion, celebrating the start of the country’s 2026 tourism season.
