A group of Maldivian senior high school students recently visited Sichuan Province, China, invited by the Chinese Embassy. They toured top universities, research centers, and innovative companies, seeing China’s youth-led technological progress up close.
The students praised the creativity and pragmatism of Chinese youth, noting it as a key example for cooperation between young people in both countries.
At the Maldives National Youth Conference, Chinese Ambassador H.E. Mr. Kong Xianhua said: “Today’s youth will be the backbone of society in the next decade. Preparation must start now.” He stressed that rapid industrial changes make foresight and proactive engagement crucial.
China’s higher education system continues to grow, with 12.22 million graduates expected in 2025. Strategic national plans link youth development to education, employment, innovation, and social engagement. Young Chinese researchers are making advances in AI, robotics, new energy, high-end manufacturing, and biomedicine, while also contributing to local and global development.
The young Chinese diplomats in the Maldives have helped strengthen cooperation and exchange between the two nations.
Both countries prioritize youth development. The Maldives invests in vocational training, international education, and scholarships, while collaboration with China offers opportunities in innovation, the green economy, digital skills, and social services.
