Velana International Airport’s Terminal 1 has begun providing services to Russia’s national carrier, Aeroflot.
The launch ceremony was attended by the Principal Secretary to the President on Policy and Manifesto at the President’s Office, Hussain Fahmy, as well as the CEO and Managing Director of Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) and Aeroflot’s General Manager in the Maldives.
Aeroflot, Russia’s largest airline, officially opened its counters at the terminal today and distributed gifts to 133 passengers. The airline’s inaugural flight to the Maldives, SU-320, arrived with 384 passengers, who were welcomed with traditional cultural performances.
With Aeroflot’s addition, Terminal 1 is now serving 39 airlines.
