The Maldives and China have signed agreements to carry out three major development projects in the country. The ceremony took place this morning at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with Foreign Minister H.E. Ibrahim Khaleel and Chinese Ambassador H.E. Kong Xiaohua in attendance.
Under the agreements, China will provide RM600 million in grant aid to support:

The China-Maldives Friendship Hospital in Vilimale’

The Male’-Vilimale’ road development project

Construction of council buildings on 50 islands
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Khaleel thanked President Xi Jinping and the Chinese government, noting that China remains one of the Maldives’ most important development partners. The Chinese ambassador reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting the Maldives and strengthening bilateral relations through these projects.
