Velana International Airport’s new Terminal 1 has served more than half a million passengers since opening.
Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) said Terminal 1 handled 508,008 passengers from December 15 to date. This included 252,340 departing passengers and 255,666 arrivals.
MACL said Sunday recorded the highest traffic so far, with 19,551 passengers served in a single day. Of these, 8,681 departed the Maldives and 10,870 arrived.
Terminal 1 was opened on July 26 to mark the 60th anniversary of Maldives’ independence. MACL said 37 airlines are currently operating from the new terminal.
