Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has appointed employees as risk champions to strengthen risk management across the company.
MPL held an awareness session for its newly appointed risk champions at Meermaa, led by Assistant Auditor General Ibrahim Fazeel. He later presented badges and certificates to the employees.
MPL Chief Risk Officer Ibrahim Rasheed said port operations carry high risks, especially at the Malé Commercial Harbour due to limited space and a challenging work environment.
“These conditions create additional risks, so we must be very careful in planning our work,” Rasheed said.
He said risk champions play a vital role beyond maintaining documents, adding that they are expected to actively promote risk awareness across the company.
Each MPL department has appointed a risk champion. The employees will work with the Risk and Compliance Department to identify and reduce risks and strengthen MPL’s risk management framework.
