The government has amended regulations on land vehicle registration, removing the requirement to submit a garage permit.
The Transport Ministry said the revision simplifies procedures related to garage verification. While applicants will no longer need to submit a garage permit, they must still have a registered garage space to park the vehicle.
The new rule will take effect next year.
Under the updated process, applicants must submit a building use permit issued by Malé City Council or the Housing Development Corporation, along with a no objection letter from the garage owner and a copy of their identification.
The ministry said the change aims to cut red tape and reduce delays, as applicants previously had to obtain permits from two separate authorities to complete a single service.
