Qatar Airways has begun operations from Terminal 1 at Velana International Airport.
The launch was marked with a ceremony at VIA Terminal 1 attended by Foreign Minister Abdulla Khaleel. MACL CEO and Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed and Qatar Airways Network Station Vice President Paul Lucian also took part, along with senior airline officials.
Qatar Airways opened its check-in counters at Terminal 1 yesterday and gave gifts to 162 departing passengers. A total of 222 passengers arriving on flight QR674 were welcomed at Terminal 1 with cultural performances.
Qatar Airways is the first Qatari airline to operate from VIA Terminal 1. The airline has served the Maldives since December 18, 2001. Terminal 1 currently serves 37 airlines.
