Maldives has now urged to the top of the CAVA Women’s Cup standings with a 3–1 victory over Kyrgyzstan on Monday.
The win gave a major boost to Maldivian women’s volleyball and strengthened their bid for gold at the Central Zone tournament.
Kyrgyzstan dominated the opening set, winning 25–11, as Maldives struggled to find rhythm and handle their taller opponents. Maldives bounced back in the second set, showing improved confidence and ball control to take it 25–22.
Building on that momentum, Maldives won the third set 25–19. The fourth set was closely contested, but Maldives held steady to close it 25–22 and secure the match.
The victory placed Maldives at the top of the standings, followed by Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh. Maldives will face Bangladesh in the ranking match, while Kyrgyzstan plays Afghanistan. The winners will advance to the final.
