The Maldives opened their Women’s CAVA Cup 2025 campaign with a convincing straight-sets win over Bangladesh on Saturday night.
The match was played at the Social Centre in Malé. The Maldives won 25-18, 25-12, and 25-16. Both teams started evenly, but the Maldives quickly took control. A few early errors in the second set did not slow them down.
Captain Hawwa Rasheeda, along with Nareema Idrees and setter Juzan Zareer, led the team with experience. On Day 2, Bangladesh face Kyrgyzstan, while the Maldives play Afghanistan.
Four teams are competing in the tournament. The final will be held on 25 December.
