Velana International Airport’s new Terminal 1 has begun serving Air France, marking another milestone in the terminal’s expanding international operations.
Services commenced on 20 December 2025, with MACL holding a special ceremony at Terminal 1 to mark the occasion. Deputy CEO and Accountable Manager of Manta Aviation, Ahmed Maumoon, attended the event alongside senior MACL officials.
MACL officially opened Air France’s check-in counters the same day. The airline presented gifts to 51 departing passengers. A ceremonial welcome greeted 332 arriving passengers on flight AF268.
Air France becomes the first French airline to operate from Terminal 1. The carrier has served the Maldives since 2 November 2017. Terminal 1 now serves 34 airlines.
