The government has launched the “Maskira App”, a new digital tool aimed at speeding up fish weighing and cutting long queues for fishermen.
Health Minister Abdulla Nazim launched the app at a Fishermen’s Day event in Dhuvaafaru. The app automatically generates queue numbers without staff involvement.
MIFCO said the app lets fishermen register vessels and request services such as oil, water, and ice. It also shows queue numbers in real time and provides catch statistics for each vessel.
Officials say the app will save time and improve efficiency at weighing points. As part of wider digital reforms, the government also activated ice availability tracking through the Keyolhu App, allowing fishermen to monitor ice plants across the Maldives.
