President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has inaugurated the Maldives’ first fuel skid for fishermen in Raa Atoll Dhuvaafaru, marking Fishermen’s Day.
The fuel skid was opened as part of the official celebrations and is aimed at providing fuel to fishermen at lower prices under government policy.
The project was implemented by the State Trading Organization (STO). STO said it plans to install 18 fuel skids nationwide by the end of March.
Officials said the facility will reduce operating costs for fishermen and support day-to-day fishing activities. It is the first fuel skid of its kind in the Maldives.
During the visit, the President and First Lady are also inaugurating several development projects on the island.
