China has donated USD 2.8 million to support the Maldives’ recovery efforts after the Housing Ministry fire.
The donation was handed over today at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Finance. Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer accepted the assistance on behalf of the Maldives. Chinese Ambassador Kong Xinhua signed the handover certificate.
The Finance Ministry said the aid package will help restore services affected by the 2019 fire at the Housing Ministry building on Ameenee Magu. After the incident, three ministries were relocated to Dharubaaruge.
China reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Maldives in strengthening public services and rebuilding damaged facilities.
