A STELCO employee injured in the Hulhumalé powerhouse fire has died while receiving treatment in Thailand.
Ahmed Azmeel, 43, passed away at Bangkok Hospital. He was a supervisor at STELCO and had worked there for over 21 years.
Azmeel was first treated in Hulhumalé after suffering severe burns in the November 26 fire. He was later transferred abroad for further care.
STELCO says it will investigate the cause of the incident and take necessary action.
