The government has signed a new agreement to launch international air ambulance flights to Dubai and Thailand.

The Ministry of Health, Island Aviation, and NSPA signed the agreement today to expand the Maldives’ air ambulance network. Deputy Health Minister Ahmed Hamdhaan Nasir signed for the Ministry, while Managing Director Ibrahim Iyaz signed for Island Aviation and CEO Heena Waleed signed for NSPA.

The move supports President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s pledge to strengthen emergency medical services.

The Ministry of Health now operates the Maldives Emergency Medical Services unit. Trained doctors, nurses, EMTs, call center staff, and drivers provide 24-hour air ambulance support.

So far, air ambulance teams have transported 1,840 emergency patients from across the Maldives to Malé.
