The Maldives observed the 37th Victory Day this morning with a flag hoisting and guard mounting ceremony at the November 3rd Memorial.
The event was held at the southwest corner of the Military Headquarters in Malé. President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu attended as Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces.
Eight flags were raised, and a guard was mounted at the memorial built in 2012. A seven gun salute and a moment of silence honored the heroes of the 1988 attack.
First Lady Sajida Mohamed, Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef, ministers, MPs, and senior officers joined the ceremony.
Victory Day remembers the 1988 defense of the Maldives against a foreign-backed terrorist invasion.
