Work has officially begun on two major development projects in Fuvahmulah City: a new National Library and a Police Accommodation Block. The projects, contracted to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), were inaugurated today by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu during his visit to the city.
Under the Police Accommodation Block project, MTCC will construct a three-storey building on 11,965 square feet of land. Valued at MVR 19.7 million, the project is scheduled for completion within 360 days. MTCC stated that the new facility will support policing efforts, strengthen crime-prevention initiatives, and contribute to improved safety and stability on the island.
The National Library project involves building a two-storey structure on 11,250 square feet. With a total cost of MVR 15.18 million, the project is expected to be completed in 390 days. MTCC noted that the new library will serve as an important hub for learning and intellectual growth, expanding educational opportunities for the community.
Both projects mark significant investments in public safety and knowledge development in Fuvahmulah City.
