President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced plans to bring large dredgers to fast track land reclamation across the Maldives.

Speaking to residents of Sh. Komandoo during his tour, the President said three dredgers will arrive under Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL). The first, an 11,000-tonne vessel, will reach later this month for the Vilufushi project. A 45,000-tonne hopper dredger will arrive next month for the Ras Malé project. The third dredger will come in December.

He said the first dredger will begin work at Dhidhdhoo Airport and finish within three weeks. It will then move to Shaviyani Atoll islands before starting projects in Malé Atoll.

President Muizzu said MACL is also bringing extra dredgers for Hulhumalé Phase III, Giraavaru Falhu, and Uthuru Thila Falhu. He assured that all reclamation and airport projects will move forward quickly to boost regional growth.
