Work has officially begun on two major projects in ADh. Omadhoo, a new police station and a two-storey health centre.
The groundbreaking ceremonies took place yesterday as part of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s visit to Alif Dhaal Atoll.
Home Security and Technology Minister Ali Ihusaan launched the construction work. Finance Minister Dr. Mohamed Ameer, Cabinet Ministers, MPs, MTCC Managing Director Ahmed Saudhee, Omadhoo Council members, and senior officials attended the event.
The new police station, awarded to MTCC for MVR 2.2 million, will span 2,000 square feet and is expected to be completed within 150 days. The project aims to strengthen public safety and support policing on the island.
The MVR 27.23 million health centre will feature a triage area, emergency room, women’s and children’s wards, private rooms, and treatment spaces. Scheduled for completion in 360 days, it will enhance healthcare services for Omadhoo’s 1,200 residents.
