President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu today inaugurated key development projects in Adh. Dhigurah, aiming to strengthen coastal safety, tourism, and local security.
The beach protection project was assigned to MTCC, which will build 420 meters of groyne, 15 meters of rock revetment, and 127 meters of geobag revetment. The 150 million rufiyaa project will finish in 12.86 months. It will protect the island from coastal erosion and provide a safe, attractive beach for residents and tourists.
The construction of the new police station, was inaugurated by the Homeland Security Minister Ali Ihsaan. Minister Ihusan, Deputy Commissioner of Police Faruhad Fikury, MP Abdullah Rasheed, and Dhigurah Council President Ibrahim Usman laid the foundation.
President Muizzu attended both ceremonies with Cabinet ministers, MPs, council members, and senior officials.
Dhigurah, home to 724 residents, is a key tourism island. These projects support the government’s plan to establish police services on all inhabited islands within two years and enhance infrastructure and safety.
