The Cabinet has decided to hold a public referendum this month to determine changes to the structure of Addu City Council .
The vote will take place on October 24 or 25. All eligible voters from Addu Feydhoo, Hulhudhoo, and Meedhoo can take part. Voters will choose whether to create separate councils for Feydhoo, Hulhudhoo, and Meedhoo or form one Hulhumeedhoo Council.
The Cabinet also directed the Ministry of Cities and Public Works to prepare jurisdiction changes before the referendum.
A ministerial team will lead this work. A technical team with knowledge of Addu will assist.
